The Power of Positive Doing

Life has a funny way of molding us. Our parents, genetics, and experiences all contribute to our worldview.
Like it or not, we live surrounded by other’s opinions. Some think we are being punished when “bad” things happen to us. Religions, social norms, wars, lost jobs, hurricanes, or poor health are only a few of the experiences that might break us down and diminish our ability to “get up one more time than we fall.”
There is no shame in failure. Consider it a stepping stone to greater wisdom, strength, and even gratitude for what we have lost. That’s no easy task and it requires us to practice letting go of “what was” into the curiosity of what is coming.
Here’s a challenge for those tough times: When things seem unfair, do what you can to find your way through to the other side of darkness. Be gentle with yourself and those around you.
Get busy. Accept what is present, and look for the blessing hidden in the darkness. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help. Persevere, and you will find the light of a new day, deepening wisdom and compassion for yourself and others who are struggling.
I share this because I lost everything and everyone that mattered. And yet, I rose from the ashes, literally and figuratively, to become who I am today. I learned that when you can’t see a way out, reach for the loving. Counterintuitive as it may be, you will likely emerge with wisdom, strength, healing, and gratitude for your life.
In so doing, you may become a gift and beacon that gives someone else a lifeline of hope.
